Imprint Methods
Debossed, embossed, printed, laser-engraved and DTF decoration explained — what each method looks like and when to choose it.
The decoration method changes how your artwork looks, how long it lasts and what it costs. Here is what we run and when each one is the right call.
Debossed
Your text or logo is pressed into the surface of the band, leaving a recessed impression in the same color as the band. It is the most durable option because there is no surface layer to wear away. Note that on 1/4 inch bands the impression is shallower and less pronounced than on 1/2 inch. Orders of fewer than 100 bands in a debossed style are laser engraved rather than molded.
Debossed with color fill
A debossed impression with ink filled into the recess, so the message stands out against the band color. The best balance of contrast and durability, and the most popular choice for events.
Embossed
The reverse of debossing — artwork is raised above the band surface. Strong tactile effect; can also be printed on top for a raised, colored message.
Printed (silk screen)
Artwork is printed flat onto the surface of the band. This gives the crispest reproduction of fine detail and multi-color logos. It is a surface treatment, so expect the printing on printed wristbands to stay visible for around 2–4 weeks of daily wear. We guarantee high-quality printed bands for 6 months from the date of shipping.
Laser engraved
A laser burns the design into the band. Used automatically for debossed-style orders under 100 pieces, and for products where a mold is not practical.
DTF (direct-to-film)
Our method for apparel and fabric goods: full-color, high-resolution artwork transferred onto the fabric with heat. It handles cotton, polyester and blends, and works on both light and dark fabrics. See the DTF printing guide for the full process.
Choosing between them
- Longest-lasting: debossed or embossed.
- Most readable: debossed with color fill.
- Full-color or photographic artwork: printed, or DTF on fabric.
- Short-run: laser engraved.
Before you order
Send your artwork to [email protected] as soon as you place your order. By default the logo is reproduced in the same color as the text; tell us if you need the original logo colors. We check every file for suitability and make small modifications free of charge, then send a digital mock-up for your approval before anything runs.
Colors on screen never match the finished product exactly — manufactured items use the “U” value rather than the pantone “C” value, and we work to international color standards within three shades.
